Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) has launched the ‘Dashboard Kawasanku’ for evidence-based decision-making on 15 June 2022. The new platform among others developed by DOSM will serve the increasing demand for information by data users.

Kawasanku (meaning MyArea / MyLocality in Bahasa Melayu) is the first step by DOSM towards creating a new generation open data platform that includes data from the Malaysia Population & Housing Census 2020 and a variety of associated indicators. The online module further aims to provide user-friendly, timely as well as high-quality statistics information and services to data users.

The Dashboard has four main themes, namely Geography, Population and Demography, Economy, and Public Facilities as well as a Visualisation Map comparing population density, household income, poverty rate, access to electricity and water, percentage of forest-covered, light intensity between locations/areas in Malaysia. The Dashboard is intended to give citizens, policymakers and the international community an accessible way to explore the dataset hosted by the DOSM.
