Within the framework of its Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised a Statistical Training Course on “Tourism Statistics” with the attendance of 81 experts from the National Statistical Offices (NSOs) and Ministries of Tourism of 32 OIC Member Countries on 12-13 May 2026 through an online video conferencing platform.
The training course was organised in collaboration with the BPS-Statistics Indonesia and the course was delivered by its competent experts from the Directorates of Services Statistics and SDGs. Moreover, UN Tourism has also contributed in the sessions focusing on sustainable tourism.
Through presentations and interactive Q&A sessions, the training course enhanced the technical capacities of the participants in the collection, compilation, processing, analysis and dissemination of tourism statistics, while facilitating the sharing of Indonesia’s relevant country experience with the participating OIC Member Countries.
In addition, SESRIC has informed the participants about the OIC-StatCom Expert Group Meeting (EGM) on the Development of an Islamic Tourism Indicators Framework. The EGM have discussed on possible indicator domains, and outlined next steps through a Conclusions document for collaboration among the members of the OIC-StatCom and relevant OIC and international organisations. Besides, UN Tourism has also briefed the attendees on the Statistical Framework for Measuring the Sustainability of Tourism adopted at the 55th Session of UN StatCom.

- Sustainable Tourism Indicators
- Tourism Satellite Account (TSA)
- Statistical Framework for Measuring the Sustainability of Tourism
