SESRIC, in its capacity as the Secretariat of OIC Statistical Commission (OIC-StatCom), organised a Workshop on “Generic Models of Statistical Production” in collaboration with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) on 10-11 July 2023 through a video conferencing platform with the participation of 62 experts from the National Statistical Offices (NSOs) of 20 OIC countries.
Organised within the framework of the Programme of Action 2021-2025 of the OIC-StatCom Strategic Vision for 2030, the Workshop had the objective to provide an overview of ModernStats and other models, and to facilitate sharing and exchange of experiences among OIC member countries in implementing the ModernStats and/or other models.
The Workshop covered the following topics:
- Scene Setting and Introduction to ModernStats Models (GAMSO and GSBPM);
- Introduction to ModernStats Models (GSBPM, GSIM and Other Related models);
- Survey Results on the Use of ModernStats Models in OIC Member Countries;
- Country Experiences and Challenges in Implementing ModernStats and Other Models (Albania, Azerbaijan, Malaysia, and Türkiye); and
- Opportunities for Cooperation Activities and Way Forward
