Training Course on 'Labour Statistics' in Chad

In accordance with its 2015 Annual Work Plan, SESRIC organised the training course on 'Labour Statistics' at the National Institute of Statistics, Economic and Demographic Studies (INSEED) in N'Djamena, Republic of Chad on 27-29 July 2015, within the framework of the Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme. The course was conducted by Mr. Jean Rodrigue Malou, expert on Social Statistics at National Agency of Statistics and Demography (ANSD) of Senegal with participation of relevant officials of INSEED.

As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009); labour statistics – a statistical activity category under the demographic and ocial statistics domain – covers statistics on labour force, labour market, employment and unemployment; the more detailed topics include economically active population, labour conditions, health and safety at work (accidents at work, occupational injuries and diseases, work-related health problems), working time and other working conditions, strikes and lockouts, job vacancies, job creation.

The training course focused on the following topics:

  • Framework for analysis of labour market statistics
    • The resolutions on labor statistics (19th ICLS)
  • Descriptive analyzes of labor market statistics
    • Analytical framework for labor market statistics
    • Release the labor market profile
  • Labor market policies (Development, Monitoring and Evaluation)
    • Experience sharing on the country for employment policies
    • The SIM (information system on the labor market) in policy development)
    • Labour market policies (in theory)
    • The monitoring and evaluation of policies for employment (brief)
