 SESRIC will participate in two side events, in conjunction with the 33rd Council Meeting of the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB), which will be held in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on 5 December 2018, hosted by the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB).
The first side event named as “Roundtable on Technical Note on Financial Inclusion (TN-3)” will discuss the Exposure Draft of Technical Note 3 (ED TN-3) on Financial Inclusion and Islamic Finance, in line with the IFSB due process for the development of Standards and Guidance/Technical Notes. Selected experts will attend the Roundtable to discuss the guidelines of the ED TN-3 with a view to soliciting constructive and practical feedback on its contents, prior to the finalisation and submission of Technical Note 3 to the IFSB Council in April 2019 for its adoption.
The next side event titled as “IFSB Members and Industry Engagement Session” will provide a platform for communication between the various Islamic financial services industry stakeholders and the IFSB. In this session, the participants will be briefed by IFSB on the progress and developments of the global Islamic financial services industry, and interact and exchange views on the prospects and challenges of Islamic finance in Saudi Arabia and other member countries.
SESRIC and the IFSB have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 22 November 2018 in Istanbul, Turkey to reinforce the collaboration on the field of Islamic finance statistics.
