 SESRIC participated in the 6th Meeting of the Heads of ECO National Statistical Offices (NSOs) organised virtually by the Secretariat of the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) on 29 June 2022. The meeting was chaired by the Bureau of National Statistics (BNS) of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan with participation from the representatives of the NSOs of 8 ECO member countries and the international organisations, namely SESRIC, UNFPA, and UNICEF.
During the session titled “ECO Statistical Capacity Building Programme for 2022-2026”, SESRIC made an intervention on its Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme with a focus on its ongoing cooperation with the ECO Secretariat concerning the joint statistical capacity building activities for the benefit of mutual member countries.
The 6th Meeting of the Heads of ECO NSOs covered the implementation of the ECO Five-Year Strategic Plan on Statistics 2021-2026, ECO Data Bank, COVID-19 statistics, vital statistics and civil registration, innovations in methodology through new technology in conducting population census, unemployment and informal sector statistics, digitisation and Big Data, and ECO Statistical Capacity Building Programme for 2022-2026.
