Within the framework of its Statistical Experience Sharing Webinar Series, SESRIC organized a Webinar on “Modernization of NSOs through Digitalization” on 26 September 2024. The webinar was conducted in collaboration with representatives from relevant international organizations and the OIC countries.

The webinar featured presentations by experts from PARIS21, the International Statistical Institute (ISI), the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS), the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) and the Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT).

The webinar was attended by 72 official statisticians and experts from the National Statistical Offices (NSOs) of 34 OIC countries.

The Webinar aimed to discuss the transformative effects and challenges of digitalization within the National Statistical Offices (NSOs). By examining innovative practices, sharing success stories, and addressing the challenges encountered during the digital transformation processes, the webinar was able to identify strategies and approaches for NSOs to effectively navigate their digital modernization journey.

The webinar included comprehensive discussions on current applications, challenges faced, and alternative perspectives from the relevant stakeholders. Key topics that were covered included:

• Overcoming Challenges in Digital Transformation: Lessons from NSO Experiences
• The Future of NSOs in the Digital Era: Innovations and Trends

In response to the resolution adopted during the 9th Session of the OIC Statistical Commission (OIC-StatCom) held from 28 September to 1 October 2020, which emphasized the importance of sharing experiences and best practices among the OIC-StatCom members, SESRIC launched its Statistical Experience Sharing Webinar Series, providing a platform for National Statistics Offices (NSOs) of OIC countries and statistical units of relevant international agencies to share their insights on statistical topics of shared interest.
