SESRIC attended the International Forum on “Digital Transformation of National Statistical Systems” held in Astana, Kazakhstan on 6–7 November 2025. The Forum was hosted by the Kazakhstan Bureau of National Statistics (QazStat) and remarks the 105th anniversary of its establishment.
The Forum brought together statisticians from the National Statistical Offices, public institutions of Kazakhstan, international organizations and academia. Among others; recent applications, national and international practices, current status and future prospects were discussed about the digital transformation of the national statistical systems, namely:

Data quality and its growing value in the modern world (data value chain)

Harnessing the potential of "big data" in official statistics

Application of AI technologies in public administration

Trust through interaction: communication with users and producers
SESRIC has delivered a presentation titled “Data Quality in the Modern Data Ecosystem: Insights and Experiences from OIC Member Countries" highlighting the growing value of data in shaping governance and development, the role of data quality in ensuring trust and comparability, and SESRIC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen statistical capacities across OIC Member Countries through initiatives such as the OIC Statistical Commission (OIC-StatCom) , Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, and the Statistical Experience Sharing Webinar Series.
The OIC-StatCom Strategic Vision 2030 and its Programme of Action (POA) for 2026-2030 was also highlighted as a guiding document that promotes collaboration among the NSOs of OIC countries and international statistical agencies. The POA for 2026-2030 was adopted at the 14th Session of the OIC-StatCom held on 1-3 October 2025 which focuses on emerging topics such as quality assurance, and statistical modernisation and innovation among others.
The Forum facilitated a platform for SESRIC to have discussions with the OIC member countries participating in the Forum namely as well as the possible collaboration with other international organisations such as CIS-Statcommittee, OECD, UNECE, UNESCAP, UNIDO, World Bank concerning the organisation of joint statistical capacity building activities.
