Study Visit on 'Health Statistics' in Tunisia

In accordance with its 2016 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised the Study Visit on ‘Health Statistics’ at the National Institute of Statistics (INS) of the Republic of Tunisia on 26-29 September 2016.

The participants of the study visit were Mr. Anwer Mohamed M. ABODIA, Head of Administrative Records and Mr. Mohamed Abduladim M. A. Ali DESUKI, Head of Services Statistics of Libyan Bureau of Statistics and Census (LBSC). The study visit participants provided the same training topics to the relevant officials of the LBSC.

As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009; http://goo.gl/olg3Tz); Health covers the health and mortality related statistical activities, including topics like life expectancy, health status, health and safety, health determinants (including lifestyle, nutrition, smoking, alcohol abuse), health resources and expenditure, health care systems, morbidity and mortality (including infant and child mortality), hospital admission, causes of illness and death, specific diseases (e.g. AIDS), disabilities, pharmaceutical consumption and sales, health personnel, remuneration of health professions, environmental health status, health inequality, and health accounts.

The Study Visit on ‘Health Statistics’ included with a focus on the following topics:

  • History of civil registration in Tunisia
  • Vital and health statistics in Tunisia
  • The system of civil registration
  • Demographic indicators issued from civil register
  • Demographic indicators issued from census
  • Population estimation
  • Population projection
  • Current situation of mortality by causes in Tunisia
  • The data entry screen (1)
  • The data entry screen (2)
