The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) and the Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) issued a joint press release on the Preliminary Results of Palestinian Agriculture Census 2021 on 16 June 2022.

H.E. Dr. Ola Awad, President of the PCBS and the Director of the Agriculture Census 2021 stated that the implementation of the second Agriculture Census in Palestine is a major statistical project at the national level which will contribute to providing important information on the current state of the agricultural sector in Palestine. The Agriculture Census 2021 will also facilitate the establishment of an Agricultural Statistical Register in cooperation with the Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture.

According to the preliminary findings of the Palestinian Agriculture Census 2021:

• 19% of the total area of Palestine is arable land, which also corresponds to 94% of the total agricultural area in Palestine.
• 85% of the total area cultivated with horticultural trees are cultivated with olive trees.
• 12% of the total area cultivated with vegetables are cultivated with potato crops.
• 47% of the total area cultivated with field crops are cultivated with wheat.
• About 30% of cattle and 26% of sheep in Palestine are raised in Hebron Governorate.
• 92% of agricultural holders are males.
