 SESRIC participated in the 8th Session of the ESCAP Committee on Statistics organised in a hybrid format by the Secretariat of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) at the UN Conference Centre in Bangkok, Thailand and online on 23-25 August 2022.
During the Session’s agenda item 4 titled as “Regional Initiatives and Partnerships for Strengthening National Statistical Systems for the Implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”, SESRIC made an intervention on its activities implemented since the 7th Session of the UNESCAP Committee on Statistics in August 2020 within the framework of its Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme in support of the Collective Vision and Framework for Action for the benefit of 15 mutual member countries of the OIC and UNESCAP.
The Committee further discussed statistical development in the region, regional cooperation and the formulation of regional positions to advance official statistics in line with existing commitments, and the Declaration on Navigating Policy with Data to Leave No One Behind. The Session also included seminars to facilitate interactive dialogues on emerging issues of relevance to statistical systems in Asia and the Pacific.
