26 September 2022 marks the day of the enactment of “Law #7 of 1960 Concerning Statistics” in Republic of Indonesia which is celebrated by all statisticians in the country as the National Statistics Day (HSN). The theme of HSN 2022 is “Quality Statistics, Prosperous Nation”.

The Chief Statistician of BPS-Statistics Indonesia, Dr. Margo Yuwono, explained at the 2022 HSN Celebration Ceremony that the theme was chosen to highlight the importance of statistics in achieving national welfare as the Republic of Indonesia’s primary objective for their citizens. The theme is also consistent with the government’s commitment to reform the social protection system through Social Economic Registration (Regsosek). BPS-Statistics Indonesia is responsible for conducting the Pre-Regsosek Data Collection from 15 October to 14 November 2022.

During the Ceremony, BPS-Statistics Indonesia presented the BPS Awards to those who actively support statistical activities in Indonesia. The National Research and Innovation Agency was named the Best Partner in the Ministries / Agencies Category, the Indonesian Forest Entrepreneurs Association was named the Best Respondent in the Company Category, and Metro TV was named the Best Partner in the Mass Media Category.

Furthermore, BPS-Statistics Indonesia also held the 2022 Exemplary Statistics Personnel Election (IST) which is the official acknowledgment by the senior management of BPS-Statistics Indonesia of its personnel who have demonstrated exemplary performance while performing their duties as official statisticians.
