United Arab Emirates Ranked 9th in the Open Data Inventory 2022

According to the results of the Open Data Inventory (ODIN) 2022/2023 announced on 14 February 2023, United Arab Emirates (UAE) ranked 9th globally and 1st in Western Asia region in with an overall score of 80.

The ODIN assesses the coverage and openness of official statistics to identify gaps, promote open data policies, improve access, and encourage dialogue between national statistical offices (NSOs) and data users. Each country’s national statistical office is also invited to participate in the ODIN Country Review process where they review the list of datasets found in the assessment and suggest new datasets (that are published online by the end of the deadline for all countries).

In the current ODIN assessment, UAE scored 89 for openness and 70 for coverage. In particular, the data categories “Money & Banking” and “International Trade” (under Economic Statistics) received 100 for the coverage, openness, and overall dimensions.

On the other hand, a score of 100 was reported under openness dimension for the “Crime & Justice” and “Poverty & Income” categories (under Social Statistics); “Government Finance” and “Balance of Payments” categories (under Economic Statistics); and “Resource Use” and “Built Environment” categories (under Environment Statistics).
