 SESRIC participated in a virtual coordination meeting with the OIC General Secretariat on 13 March 2024. The meeting focused on the preparatory stages for the final report on the implementation of the OIC-2025 Programme of Action (POA).
The OIC-2025 POA, an ambitious policy agenda, was officially adopted at the 13th Session of the Islamic Summit Conference in Istanbul, Türkiye. Following the resolution adopted at the 49th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM), held in Nouakchott on 16-17 March 2023, the OIC General Secretariat, in collaboration with SESRIC, has been entrusted with the crucial task of compiling a comprehensive report on the implementation of the OIC-2025 POA. The report aims to provide a thorough assessment of the progress made towards realizing the ambitious goals outlined in the OIC-2025 agenda.
The coordination meeting played a pivotal role in establishing a structured methodology for the development of the report. It focused on discussing a definitive timeline, specifying the roles of various stakeholders, and pinpointing critical areas of content. The meeting was also vital in ensuring that the report comprehensively captures the collective endeavours, successes, and challenges of the OIC countries in executing the OIC-2025 POA.
By concentrating on the strategic aspects of the final report’s preparation, the meeting underscored the shared commitment of SESRIC and the OIC General Secretariat to fostering development and cooperation among the OIC Member States. The outcomes of the meeting marked a significant step forward in the collective efforts towards assessing the realization of the approved goals and objectives of the OIC-2025 POA and paving the way for its successor program.
