Within the framework of the Statistical Experience Sharing Webinar Series, SESRIC organised a webinar titled “Bridging the Data Gaps on SDG 2 Indicators: Strengthening Food Security and Nutrition in OIC Countries” on 2 December 2025, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), World Health Organization (WHO), Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) as well as attending OIC member countries. The webinar was attended by 62 official statisticians and experts from the National Statistical Offices (NSOs), Ministries of Agriculture and Health of 24 OIC countries.
The Webinar served as a platform for:
-
Reviewing methodological updates and guidance from custodian agencies on SDG 2 indicators;
-
Exchanging national experiences in compiling and reporting data;
-
Identifying opportunities for strengthening food and nutrition statistics through partnerships and capacity building.
The webinar facilitated the exchange of knowledge and expertise to enhance the understanding of SDG 2 monitoring frameworks, foster stronger coordination among data-producing institutions, and support OIC Member Countries in integrating food security and nutrition data into national development plans. The event is organised within the framework of the OIC-StatCom Strategic Vision 2030 and the forthcoming OIC-StatCom Programme of Action 2026–2030, particularly under the strategic objective aimed at strengthening statistical capacity for SDG monitoring.
