SESRIC participated in the First Coordination Meeting on the “Regional Capacity Development Activities in Demographic and Social Statistics in 2025”, organised by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) on 17 December 2025.
The meeting focused on the review of the assessment questionnaire results, discussions on potential coordination modalities for 2026, and an exchange of views on priority areas for regional collaboration. Participants also reviewed progress achieved in 2025 and explored opportunities to further strengthen coordination mechanisms and enhance synergies among regional initiatives in the coming years.
The meeting brought together representatives of relevant international and regional organisations engaged in demographic and social statistics. SESRIC’s participation reaffirmed the Centre’s continued engagement in regional statistical cooperation and its commitment to supporting capacity development efforts in demographic and social statistics, in line with internationally agreed statistical standards and methodologies for strengthening national statistical systems.
