Technical Mission on ‘SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) Indicators’

Within the framework of its Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC, in collaboration with the National Institute of Statistics (INS) of Cameroon, will organise a Technical Mission on “SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) Indicators” on 20-22 April 2026 in Conakry, Guinea. The technical mission will be conducted by a competent expert from the INS of Cameroon for the benefit of the National Institute of Statistics (INS) and other relevant stakeholders in the national statistical system of Guinea.
The main objective of the technical mission is to enhance the capacities of the participants in understanding and applying statistical methodologies and good practices related to the collection, compilation and dissemination of SDG 2 indicators. The mission will include discussion sessions covering the following topics:
Overview of the SDG framework, including a mapping of SDG 2 targets and indicators and custodian agencies
Discussion on the national context of SDG 2, including prioritised targets and their alignment with national development strategies
Detailed presentation of SDG 2 indicators, including those related to food security and nutrition
Analysis of interconnections between SDG 2 and other SDGs (health, poverty, gender, climate, and economic growth)
Definitions, calculation principles, data requirements, and validation procedures for selected priority indicators (e.g. 2.1.1, 2.1.2, 2.2.1, 2.2.2, 2.3.2)
Review of available data sources, including household surveys, agricultural surveys, food balance sheets, and administrative data
Use of FAO modules, particularly the Food Insecurity Experience Scale (FIES), and assessment of national data gaps
Guidance on the compilation ofSDG progress reports, including structure, frequency, data flows, and quality assurance
Identification of potential financing and coordination mechanisms for sustainable SDG monitoring
